Lyubo Yonchev about TEETH:

“Teeth” began with a question about what remains of intimacy when stability becomes uncertain.
I was interested in a relationship shaped not by dramatic rupture, but by gradual imbalance. The tension in the film does not erupt; it accumulates. It exists in pauses, in gestures withheld, in decisions made under quiet pressure.
Victor and Eva inhabit an environment where economic and emotional precarity are constant but rarely articulated. Their conflict is not ideological. It emerges from asymmetry — of responsibility, authority, and expectation. Victor carries weight without power; Eva holds authority without security. This imbalance slowly alters the texture of their intimacy.
Formally, the film avoids spectacle. Violence, when it appears, is not an event but a residue — the visible trace of prolonged instability. I chose restraint in framing and rhythm, allowing duration and silence to reveal what language cannot.
“Teeth” does not position its characters as victims or antagonists. It observes how pressure reorganizes closeness, how roles harden under strain, and how silence can become structural rather than personal.
The film approaches fracture not as a moment of explosion, but as a condition that gradually takes form.
