Synopsis:

Humanity breathes heavily amidst the rush and the weariness of routine. Sheltered within the warm timelessness of a café, Julián (89) observes the passage of people through a window, seeking beauty in every moment. His peace is interrupted by the arrival of Samuel (65), an impeccably dressed man in mourning whose presence contrasts with the local chatter, and who bears the weight of a relentless and painful labor.

Over a newspaper detailing the victims of a recent conflict, Samuel confronts Julián. He reproaches him for the gift of free will and the senseless violence that forces him to collect souls without rest. However, Julián counters this pain with unwavering hope; he reminds his old friend that even in absolute chaos, there is always someone who chooses to be a shelter and sow compassion.

Inefable is a poignant tale that humanizes the greatest forces in the universe: God and Death. Following their meeting, both resume their paths in opposite directions. While Julián remains behind, observing the world with a melancholic tenderness, Samuel must return to his unavoidable task, reminding us that both the light of life and the shadow of death are necessary to give true value to the present.

Director’s Statement:

Ineffable is born from a fundamental contradiction and from my own doubts as an agnostic about the meaning of life and the fear of death. With this film, I do not seek to impose a moral lesson or guide the viewer toward a single interpretation, but rather to reflect the dual thoughts that constantly run through us. To achieve this, I wanted to move Death away from its classic malevolent portrayal, presenting it instead as a rebellious figure, exhausted by an imposed responsibility and disillusioned by human atrocities.

In contrast stands a serene and ancient God; a father figure who neither punishes nor seeks to persuade, but listens and accompanies, reminding us that, although we live surrounded by negative news that clouds the world, goodness still exists. It is a story about two forces that, like yin and yang, cannot exist without each other.

The final twist reinforces this vision: there is no confrontation, only the inexorable fulfillment of destiny, inviting each viewer to complete the message through their own life experience.

Director’s Biography:

Moisés González, born in Seville 24 years ago, studied audiovisual production with a strong vocation to dedicate himself to the art of cinema. During his early professional years, he built solid experience in the demanding live events sector, working in the production of tours, festivals, and conferences. In late 2024, a series of personal experiences led him to return to writing as both a creative and vital necessity.

As a result of this introspection, he developed the script for a feature film titled Reencuentro, which, after a rigorous process of self-criticism, evolved into his first short film: Inefable. As an agnostic creator, Moisés uses cinema to channel his deepest inner conflicts about the meaning of existence, doubt, the concept of God, and the inevitability of death. Taking on the roles of screenwriter, director, and producer, he has fully financed and driven this cinematic debut, demonstrating an absolute commitment to an honest, deeply personal vision open to multiple interpretations by the audience.
