Academy Awards Qualifying Festival!

Thrilled to announce that three short films distributed by Mailuki Films have been selected to compete in the Official Selection at the 22nd Annual HollyShorts Film Festival:

  • Gallina, by Fernando Reinaldos/ Spain
  • My Plastic Mother, by Amar Haikal/ Indonesia
  • Anyone lived in a pretty how town, by Daniel Kreizberg/ Lithuania, Monaco, USA

It is the umpteenth Hollywood Oscar Qualifying film festival at which our films are selected.

The festival will take place from 13 to 23 August 2026 in Hollywood, California, at the TCL Chinese 6 cinemas on Hollywood Boulevard.

The three short films from our catalogue that have been selected this year are making a big splash on the film festival circuit.

  • Gallina will be in the running for the Goya Awards from the Spanish Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
  • Anyone lived in a pretty how town is one of the most successful animated short films on the circuit.
  • The Plastic Mother, also known as Anak Macan, has now officially qualified for the Oscars after winning the Grand Jury Prize at the Flickerfest International Short Film Festival in Australia

This is not the first time our filmmakers have taken part in this prestigious American film festival.
In previous years, other filmmakers have also screened their films there. For example, Erik Jasaň, who presented The Professional Parent, a contender for the Oscars.

Or our darling Álex Lora Cercos with The Masterpiece, winner of Goya Awards and SHORTLISTED for the Hollywood Oscars.

And yes. We can confirm that the three filmmakers will be attending the festival alongside a delegation from Mailuki Films. So, see you in Los Angeles.
