Víctor Candela is a film and commercial editor based in Berlin since 2020. He spent his childhood in the Madrid neighborhood of Lavapiés until, due to his grandmother’s illness, his family moved to her neighborhood—Barrio de la Concepción, located in the eastern part of the city.
From an early age, he was raised in a politically engaged household. That environment, combined with the rise of rap and graffiti in early 2000s Madrid—movements he was actively involved in—inspired his interest in socially conscious cinema.
Cinco, his first short film as a writer and director, marks his debut in author-driven storytelling, a path he combines with his daily work as an editor. His professional experience includes music videos, fashion films, documentaries, and commercial projects for various brands.
His background as an editor has given him a deep understanding of cinematic storytelling and the internal rhythm of narratives. While his roots are in social cinema, he often explores ways to incorporate elements of magical realism into his projects, seeking a visual language that blends the everyday with the symbolic.
