Synopsis

Following the sound of a distant flute, a masked wanderer enters a decaying cardboard forest clad with dead, fallen leaves. Several forest children, gone havoc and worshipping technological devices from the outside world, block his way. The wanderer must go past them and into the heart of the forest to discover the reason behind their madness and the rotting of the woods.

Director’s statement

Nostalgia, although occasionally a beautiful sensation, can lead to painful attachments to the past and fear of moving forward. The Gatherer, through the creation of a unique, surreal universe, tells the story of how lingering on the past will corrupt the present, of how change must be accepted, and the past let go of in order to grow.
