Sheila Fernandez Avellaneda was born in Barcelona on November 7, 1986.
After finishing Humanistic School takes two years of higher Degree in Audiovisual Production, ending it with a distinction. This gave her the opportunity to enter university to study Audiovisual Communication.
In 2012 she enters the Superior School of Cinema (ESCAC) to take a course in Film Direction. «La Pequeña Vedette’», her first job as a director, had the opportunity to be part of some of the best national and international festivals worldwide, with the help of Mailuki Films.
A year later, in May 2013 it is chosen for her University to participate in a project of the European Union called Media Culture 2020. During two weeks she and other students from different universities of Europe gathered in Finland for audiovisual projects based on needs of future generations.
In 2014 an International mobility gave her a grant to go to Brazil where she completed her studies. While she stayed in Brazil she was encouraged to film her first documentary which is currently in post-production.
Whilst she was traveling she shot her second short film «White Dame» which has the support of Mailuki Films as an executive and distributor. White Dame was in the Short Film Corner of Cannes and in the official selection of Filmets Badalona, among others.
Sheila Avellaneda also directed commercials for popular brands like Menorkinas and music videos for Universal Music and Fitzcarraldo Films.
