Synopsis:
A mother and daughter must make their way through a grieving process together though they have never admitted to one another how severely the grief has affected them individually.
Director’s Statement:
We don’t usually name the unborn. They make us underline death before life. It’s almost inconceivable. A child that it is not born. It hurts so much.
That’s still more painfully ignored when it’s related to twins. When a twin dies in the womb of the mother, she can’t complain. “You still have one.” Mothers without griefs and twins without twins, a difficult mess of feelings to deal with.
Six years ago, when my first child was born, my mother told it to me. She never pretended to hide it. She just was in the side of joy. “We still had you.” I am a womb twin survivor.
I have explored the grief for an unborn twin in this movie, the feeling of being incomplete, alone and not enough until you accept it. Until you name it. My own journey to be alive again.
