
Grace Hsia is a Chinese/Cantonese director and screenwriter in Beijing. She is a Locarno Film Festival DSS fellow. Sharing her self-learned filmmaking experience and knowledge as a filmmaker, she is one of the youngest lecturer for LUMIX and CUHK,Shenzhen.
She worked as a documentary director at Enlight Picture, one of the top 3 film companies in China.
After participating in several film crews and best box office-selling movies, her vision and passion grew from documentary to fiction film.
Combining a fresh visual style with dynamic characters, she investigates shifting boundaries between fact and fiction and produces stories which are moving and eye-opening. Her previous stories are about Chinese contemporary society, coming-of-age stories, inter-culture, nature, human rights and feminism.
Grace’s previous films includes documentary A BOHEMIAN IN CHINA , A TEMPORARY HOME, and LOST WITH DREAM .Her short films BROKEN FLOWERS, and SILENT STORM screened at 100+ international film festivals and won awards.
Her first feature film script, THE DAYS AWAY FROM HOME has participated in THE ONE women international film festival Lab in 2019.
SILENT STORM is her first collaboration with Mailuki Films.
