
Bruno Carnide (Leiria, Portugal, 1987) is a film director and producer, and a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS).
Twice nominated for the Sophia Awards of the Portuguese Academy of Cinema, he develops an auteur body of work that crosses fiction, animation and documentary, exploring themes such as memory, identity and the materiality of the image, frequently resorting to analogue film as a narrative element, one of the distinctive hallmarks of his cinematic language.
His films have received more than 50 awards and have been selected for more than 400 film festivals in over 50 countries, including Oscras® and European Film Awards qualifying festivals, among which stand out A-list festivals such as ZINEBI (Spain), InterFilm (Germany), Tirana (Albania), Huesca (Spain), Izmir (Turkey), CineLebu (Chile), Drama (Greece), Tehran (Iran) and St. Louis (USA), as well as Portuguese festivals such as IndieLisboa, Cinanima, Monstra, MOTELX and FEST.
He has been the founding director and programmer of Leiria Film Fest – International Short Film Festival since 2013, holds the Specialist Title in Film Production, is a university lecturer in the field of Cinema, regularly serves as a jury member at several international festivals, and was curator of the Museum of the Moving Image of Leiria between 2022 and 2024.
He works in the direction of corporate films, advertising and audiovisual content, having signed hundreds of productions for brands such as Google, MTV, Nickelodeon, RTP, Volkswagen, Ford and Schweppes.
His filmography includes the short films “Memories of an Empty House” (2023), “Fled. Lay. Fell.” (2017), both shot on Super8 film, and the animated short film “The Flight of the Manta Rays” (2021).
