Álex Galán is a peculiar figure within the industry. Following the school of master Werner Herzog, he has directed films and developed expeditions in equal measure, always clinging to a radically independent and free style.
After four feature films and a dozen documentaries, he debuts as a short film with “The Arrival at the River of a Handsome Canoeist,” a daring work that plays with the limits of parody, criticism, and invented local color.
His outsider style was born in “Salvajes,” the controversial docu-western about the wolf conflict (Wanda Films 2022) and continued with “Il Mulín” (winner of the 61st FICX award). In 2023, he traveled to the mountains of Central Asia to shoot “Territory,” starring Darko Peric, which premiered on German television after traveling to Russia, Italy, Colombia, Korea, and Spain in the official section of the Atlántida Mallorca Film Festival.
In 2025, he added a twist to his unique interpretation of the rural with “Valle Blanco, Gallo Negro,” a film shot in the Asturian mountains that opened the official section of the Santander Film Festival. That same year, he began filming his fifth feature film, a documentary about cinema in the Arctic.
His films have been selected for prestigious festivals such as Turin, Cairo, and Moscow.

Álex Galán es un personaje peculiar dentro de la industria. Siguiendo la escuela del maestro Werner Herzog ha dirigido películas y desarrollado expediciones a partes iguales, siempre aferrado a un estilo radicalmente independiente y libre.
Tras 4 largometrajes y una decena de documentales se estrena en el cortometraje con ‘La llegada al río de un apuesto piragüista’ un trabajo arriesgado que juega con los límites de la parodia, la crítica y el costumbrismo inventado.
Su estilo outsider nació en ‘Salvajes’, el polémico docu-western sobre el conflicto del lobo (Wanda Films 2022) y continuó con ‘Il Mulín’ (premio en la 61 edición de FICX). En 2023 viajó a las montañas de Asia Central para rodar ‘Territory’, película protagonizada por Darko Peric que se estrenó en la televisión alemana tras pasar por Rusia, Italia, Colombia, Korea o España a través de la sección oficial del Atlántida Mallorca Film Festival.
En 2025 da una vuelta de tuerca a su particular interpretación de lo rural con ‘Valle Blanco, Gallo Negro’, una película filmada en los montes asturianos que inauguró la sección oficial del Festival de Cine de Santander. En ese mismo año comienza el rodaje de su quinto largometraje, un documental sobre el cine en el Ártico.
Sus películas han sido seleccionadas en festivales de prestigio como Torino, El Cairo o Moscú.
