This week marks the start of the 19th edition of the Beirut International Short Film Festival in Lebanon, where two short films from Mailuki Films are participating in the official competition:
- My Plastic Mother, by Amar Haikal, Indonesia
- Five Seasons of my Childhood, by Besim Ugzmajli, Kosovo & Spain
Beirut Shorts International Film Festival, an Academy Awards (OSCARS) qualifying film festival, is the most prominent short film festival in the Arab world. Founded in 2007, and organized annually by the Beirut Film Society, the festival has grown to be a significant platform under the constant theme, “The Power of Youth.”


Five Seasons of my Childhood is the latest film from Kosovan filmmaker Besim Ugzmajli, a regular at Mailuki Films.
It premiered worldwide at the last Tampere Film Festival in Finland and has since competed at festivals in America and Europe.

My Plastic Mother, aka Anak Macan, is an Indonesian production that will be premiered also at Hollywood Oscar’s qualifying Leeds International Film Festival, UK.
