Thrilled to announce that the short film MY PLASTIC MOTHER, by Amar Haikal, has been selected for the Louis le Prince International Narrative Shorts Competition at the 39th Leeds International Film Festival, UK.
Winner of the Louis le Prince International Short Competition is eligible to enter the Oscars®.

The 39th edition of Leeds International Film Festival (LIFF) will take place from 30 October — 16 November 2025, and the screening of MY PLASTIC MOTHER will be World Premiere.
Leeds is one of the UK’s major cities and is located in the UK’s largest county, Yorkshire. The world’s first moving images were filmed in Leeds in 1888 by Louis le Prince. Today, Leeds is a major European centre for film, the home of Screen Yorkshire, and the new home for the UK’s leading independent TV company Channel 4.

MY PLASTIC MOTHER, aka ANAK MACAN, is the latest work by Indonesian filmmaker Amar Haikal.

Amar Haikal, the producer Michael Rainheartand a delegation from Mailuki Films will travel to the United Kingdom to present this beautiful masterpiece to the world.

Muhammad Alfat Apriansyah gives a prodigious performance as Eki.

MY PLASTIC MOTHER is receiving a cascade of selections at qualifying festivals for the Hollywood Oscars, which we will announce shortly.
